Fishing

Experience the perfect cast on Skeena River

Our steelhead and salmon fishery is truly unique to this part of the world. We spend long, satisfying days on mist-covered rivers, surrounded by pristine forests. The pure, unpolluted air of Northern British Columbia is enchanting and will undoubtedly draw you back time and again. The Native translation of Skeena means “River of Mist,” a fitting name for this magical place.

At Skeena River Lodge, we offer the ideal conditions for a perfect cast. Whether you are chasing the elusive steelhead or one of the five magnificent species of Pacific salmon, each fish and every river has its own unique character, with each catch more stunning than the last.

Fly fishing for salmon and especially for steelhead presents a constant challenge, requiring dedication and hard work. Pursuing the elusive steelhead or the mighty King (Chinook) can range from incredibly tough days to moments when everything seems effortlessly perfect.

To be successful in catching wild steelhead or salmon in British Columbia, a fly fisher must possess a blend of patience, endurance, and passion. Flexibility and determination are essential, especially when Mother Nature is not on your side.

Yet even when the weather is not at it’s best, the breathtaking and varied scenery adds to the magic of fly fishing on these rivers. Moose, bears, and wolves are often seen along the riverbanks. Bald eagles soar majestically overhead, on the lookout for an unwary fish.

The Skeena River Lodge takes pride in being a “fly fishing only” lodge, where fly fishing is not just a sport but a way of life. The guides’ expertise with both Spey and single-handed rods allows you to masterfully land your fish of a lifetime.

The Lodge

Skeena River Lodge
Redefined fly fishing hospitality

We believe that your fishing holiday should not be just be about fishing. It should be about every moment – from your early morning cup of freshly brewed coffee to the late night hot tub under the stars on a clear night sky.

The lodge has a 50m long casting pond adjacent to the main building. It’s a great place to brush up on your casting skills, or try some new lines on your rod before heading out on the river. It’s also home to about 200 Kamloops rainbow trout.

The lodge has recently been extended and beautifully refurbished. Guests stay in beautiful Canadian-style log cabins – with comfortable beds, wood fires and electric heating, flush toilets and showers with plenty of hot water!

There is a well stocked bar in the main building and in the dining room you will be treated to delicious meals prepared by dedicated chefs. And an early morning breakfast will be ready for those who want to fish a remote stretch of river early in the morning!

Finally, after a long and exciting day, a hot outdoor jacuzzi will soothe your tired limbs.

For those that still have energy, there is a games room with pool table, table tennis, table football and darts.
