Fishing

Fly Fishing in Two River Valley, Greenland

Fly fishing in Two River Valley, located on Greenland’s west coast, offers an exceptional experience for anglers. The primary draw of this destination is the sea-run Arctic Char, known for their vibrant colors and spirited fight. These fish are most plentiful during the summer months from June to August, when they migrate upriver from the sea to their spawning grounds. The crystal-clear waters of the valley provide the perfect backdrop for sight fishing, making it an exhilarating adventure for both novice and experienced anglers.

Along the coastline, anglers can enjoy a diverse range of sea fishing opportunities. The cold, nutrient-rich waters are home to species such as Cod, Wolffish, and Halibut. The best time for sea fishing extends from late spring through early autumn, typically from May to September, when the weather conditions are favorable, and the fish are most active. This season coincides with the peak migration periods, ensuring that anglers have the best chances of landing a variety of impressive catches. Whether you’re fishing in the serene rivers of the valley or along the rugged coastline, Two River Valley promises an unforgettable fly fishing experience.

The Accommodation

Comfortable Lodge in Prime Location

The newly constructed lodge provides all the comfort needed for a week of fishing in a remote wilderness setting. Perched on a small hill next to the river mouth, it offers stunning views of the bay, inviting you to enjoy a morning coffee while casting a few lines before indulging in a hearty breakfast. Its prime location allows for easy access to the river, with the first fishing pools just a short walk from the lodge.

Additionally, there are no tide restrictions, enabling boat access to the lodge at any time, simplifying transfers and maximising freedom for sea fishing adventures.

The lodge offers both single and double room accommodations with multiple bathrooms. Guests can enjoy breakfast and dinner in a cozy dining area, and a well-stocked bar featuring beer, wine, and liquor. There’s something truly magical about enjoying a drink in the bar, surrounded by the Arctic wilderness.

From August to September, guests also have a good chance of witnessing the mesmerising Northern Lights, adding an extra layer of enchantment to their stay.

Tackle & Tactics

Experience Your Angling Aspirations

At the start of the season, when targeting larger steelhead in higher water conditions, using bigger intruders and streamers with a light Skagit or sink-tip line setup is ideal. Whether you choose a switch rod or a single-hand rod depends on your personal preference, but it’s worth noting that every pool in the river can be effectively fished with a single-hand rod, regardless of the conditions. While streamers, nymphs, rubber legs, and classic salmon flies are reliable choices, we encourage everyone to experience the thrill of surface fishing! There’s nothing quite like the excitement of swinging or skating a gurgler or foam fly on the surface, watching bow waves form as a fish rises to strike—it’s an adrenaline rush like no other!
