Denmark

Heard of Fyn? This lush Danish island is a favourite escape — even National Geographic named it one of Europe’s best hidden secrets. But the real gem is the sea trout fishing.

Introduction

Overview – Sea Trout, the Reason Anglers Return to Fyn

Every year, anglers from all over Europe return to Fyn for one reason: sea trout. The island offers an unforgettable coastal fishing experience that keeps thousands coming back year after year.

Fyn (pronounced “foon”) is a special place — a mosaic of natural coastlines, reefs, and sandy beaches. It’s not a numbers game here. If you’re chasing 20 fish a day, this isn’t your destination. But if you’re after something special — the challenge, the thrill, the satisfaction of earning each catch — then Fyn delivers.

Whether you prefer fly or spin fishing, the fight is real. Sea trout are powerful, known for explosive runs and acrobatic leaps. Most average 35–55 cm, but fish up to 80 cm are out there — the trout of a lifetime, made even more meaningful because you caught it in the sea.

Fishing

Fly Fishing off the Coast

Sea trout are available year-round, always ready for the challenge.
Sea trout can be caught year-round, but each season brings its own magic.
The Lodge is open from March to November.

Spring Season
In spring, it’s all about silver. Late winter through May, sea trout return to the sea after spawning and feed actively along the coast.

March, April, and May offer some of the best action — crystal-clear waters, hungry fish, and high chances. But even with plenty of trout around, success means staying mobile and finding the fish.

A spring silver in Fyn? Every skilled angler should experience this!

Summer Season
A calm sea at sunset, a cold beer with friends, and a couple of sea trout… it’s wellness for the soul.

In summer, rising water temps push trout into deeper waters by day — but as evening cools, they return to the coast to feed. That’s when the magic happens.

Long evenings, gentle light, and active fish make sunset, night, and sunrise the best times to cast. Peaceful, rewarding — summer fishing here is more than sport. It’s a feeling.

Autumn Season
Silver or gold — what will your next catch be?
After a season of feeding, sea trout are strong, well-conditioned and preparing for their autumn spawning run. By August and September, they gather near the coast, especially in fjords and bays.

Many fish show their stunning spawning colours, while others remain bright silver — both active, both ready to strike. Alongside spring, autumn is one of the best times to fish Fyn’s coastal waters.

Exclusive Pike Fishing in Our Private Waters

The Accommodation

A Brand New Lodge created for true Fishing Enthusiasts

The original lodge opened in 2013, but in 2021 it entered an entirely new era with the launch of a completely rebuilt facility — a space created entirely with anglers in mind.

Environmental responsibility played a key role during construction: the lodge is heated using geothermal energy and air pumps, and many decorative features were crafted from 100-year-old reclaimed wood.

This new lodge, situated on the beach front, is Denmark’s only accommodation built specifically to be a true Fishing Lodge, shaped by years of experience and a deep understanding of what sea trout anglers are looking for when visiting Fyn.

Guests will find thoughtfully designed facilities, fishing-focused services, flexible hours, and genuine hospitality — a rare combination unmatched elsewhere on the island.

Behind the lodge stands a young, dedicated team who relocated to the area to bring this project to life: Omar, Valentina, and Jan are the welcoming faces at the lodge. A wider network of professionals supports the operation, ensuring guests receive a complete and seamless experience.

Comfortable Accommodation for Anglers
The lodge features 6 cozy rooms, accommodating up to 12 guests. Four rooms offer private bathrooms with spacious shower/WC, while two share a spacious, well-appointed bathroom — all with underfloor heating.

Each room is equipped with high-quality Danish mattresses to ensure restful sleep, and large windows offer calming views of the countryside and sea. A small desk, wardrobe, and free Wi-Fi complete the setup — everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay after an eventful day on the water.

Cuisine
Meals at the Lodge are tailored to fit the rhythm of fishing life. Whether you’re heading out before sunrise or returning late after a full day on the coast, you’ll find the kitchen ready to support your adventure.

Early Start? Planning to head out before sunrise? Just let the team know, they’ll prepare a lighter breakfast to support your adventure. And you can always help yourself to tea, coffee, and cookies to get youself started.

Breakfast Buffet (7:30 – 9:00) Enjoy a hearty post-fishing breakfast with fresh bread, Danish butter and jams, eggs with bacon, yogurt, cereals, seasonal fruit, and tea, espresso, or filter coffee.

Lunch Takeaway lunches can be booked. Packed in a practical coolbox, they include sandwiches, sweet snacks, a drink, and tea or coffee in a thermos — perfect for uninterrupted time on the water.

Dinner After a long day on the coast, unwind with a good meal and great company. Dinner is served in a warm, social atmosphere with fellow anglers from across Europe. Timing is flexible and follows the fishing season: from 19:30 to 21:30 in spring and summer, so even hardcore anglers can eat, rest, and head back out into the long lasting light.

A daily set menu blends Danish classics with Italian dishes — from smoked fish and hearty meat dishes to lasagne, parma ham and aged Parmigiano. Meals end with dessert and a chance to unwind in the lounge with a digestif or a good whiskey.
